concert movies

My two favourite documentaries that feature concert performances are “The Last Waltz” by Michael Scorcese and “Bring on the Night” by Michael Apted.

The first one, The Last Waltz, features the last concert of “The Band”. The second one, Bring on the Night, introduces a new band rehearsing for their first concert, “M. le Sting et les Tortues Bleues”.

Silent

Who never laughed or shed tears while watching a Charles Spencer Chaplin movie? Whenever I happen to watch one of his movies nowadays, I get reminded how dull some of our contemporary pictures are. When I was a teenager, I had the privilege to be able to watch silent movies, every day for two years, in a movie theatre with piano accompaniment. No, I am not that old; the theatre was located in a cinema museum in Europe.

It is sad that younger people will probably never really enjoy these films as now they are used to fast paced movies and have a decreasing attention span.
